FISHING REPORT

Boom Vang 6/17/08
Overnight Tuna trip
I took four fisherman on an overnight tuna trip to Boom Vang, a floating rig 133 miles out from Port O`Connor, Saturday night. We made two stops on the way out and one stop on the way back to catch 20 nice Red Snapper, 5 Amberjack, and 4 big Dorado. We caught 18 Black fin Tuna 20-25 pounds and one Yellow fin Tuna about 40 pounds. We lost several other Black fin and a couple other Yellow fin. One fisherman fought a big Yellow fin for more than an hour with 50# test line with the drag as tight as we dare and lost him when the hooked pulled out right under the boat. We caught the Dorado from a wooden crate we found floating . The four Dorado were 15-30 pounds. What a trip!

Offshore fishing on Rip Tide II 5/21/08
The Rip Tide II handles like a dream.  I have had it out a couple of times in 4-6 foot seas and she cut through them like they were nothing.  When we get back to the dock people ask, "Wasn't it rough out there today?" and I just say no, I didn't notice.
Red Snapper opens June 1, in Federal waters.  Lots of Snapper out there in the 8-10 pound range.  We have been catching Ling, Amberjack, and Black Tip Shark.
Let's go fishing.

Cobia, Dolphin, Shark and King Mackerel are plentiful at the Shrimp boats. The Tuna are 15-25 pounds, fight like torpedoes and are great table fare. We are catching some nice Snapper also, a couple of 18 pounders yesterday. Fishing should stay great or maybe even get better from now to October. Let`s go fishing!

07.10.2006

The Amberjack were caught over a sunken rig about 45 miles out in 200 foot of water. A couple of the guys fought a 7 foot Hammerhead Shark for an hour before it finally broke the line. Looks like we are in for a great offshore season. Let`s go fishing!

04.01.2005

Red Snapper fishing opens to Federal waters April 21st. I have a few spots that probably have not been fished since last October. I bet those fish will nearly jump in the boat. Amberjack are always around the wrecks about 40 miles out in 150 to 200 foot of water. King mackerel and Cobia should start showing up any time. Let`s go fishing!

08.02.2004

07.17.2004

snappersThings are looking great out here on the water. The weather has been great. The snapper are always good and this last trip we caught several good size Kingfish. We even caught a Dolphin weighing in at 35lbs. and just over 56" long. They're out there, let's see what you can catch!

07.06.2004

red snapperLooks like the weather is finally going to cooperate. We are catching lots of Snapper and Amberjack. Blue water is about 15 miles out. We have not caught many King Mackerel, but we really have not pursued them. I heard the Kings are here in close. Dolphin should be in also, we saw lots of weeds last weekend. A little calm weather and there should be some good weedlines holding Dolphin.A fisherman caught a 15 pound Snapper Sunday.

06.17.2004

fishOffshore fishing out of Port O`Connor Texas has been a little rough, but once we get out there the fishing has been good. We caught Red Snapper, Cobia, Dolphin King Mackerel and shark this weekend. The largest fish was a 42 pound King Mackerel. He put up a great fight, it was about all this angler wanted. Blue water is about 25 miles out. I am sure as soon as we get in a summer time weather pattern, the fishing will be great. I still have some Sundays open and plenty weekdays open.We fished Tuesday. The gulf was 2 to 3 ft. waves. It was great, we could travel 30 mph everywhere we went. We limited on Snapper, Amberjack, caught 2 Cobia, 2 Dolphin and a 125 pound Blacktip Shark. Make your reservations now.

05.05.2004

SnapperFirst Red Snapper trip of the season last Tuesday was great. We limited out on Snapper up to 20 pounds by 10:00. We also caught a 25 pound Ling, 35 pound Jack Crevelle, several Amberjack, just under-size and 3 Barracuda. We also limited out on Atlantic Sharpnose Shark. Total we brought back 34 fish. The fishing is great, all we need is favorable weather. Come catch some Snapper.

02.10.2004
Winter is maintenance time for the offshore fisherman. I am replacing my motors this year with twin 2004 Suzuki 200 four-strokes. These motors have a six year warranty, promising many years of reliable service.

Red Snapper fishing opens up to Federal Waters last week of April. I have about a dozen new submerged structure fishing spots obtained from an Offshore surveyor friend of mine. I can hardly wait to fish them.  Last year one new spot produced over 450 keeper Red Snapper, the largest being a 26 pounder.

11.17.2003
Blackfin Tuna are abundant behind the Shrimp boats in about 200 feet of water. Sand trout and Shark can be caught at close wells in state waters. Good weather days for offshore fishing are limited this time of year, but the fishing can be great.

09.23.2003
Offshore fishing out of Port O`Connor is still good. Red Snapper season closes at the end of October, so do not miss your last chance to stock your freezer with some great Snapper fillets. Amberjack are on the wrecks out about 45 miles out, and we are finding an occasional Blackfin Tuna and dolphin behind the Shrimp boats 40 to 50 miles out. Big Blacktip sharks are cruising behind the Shrimpers in close.

07.30.2003
Offshore fishing in Port O`Connor is hotter than ever after Claudette. King Mackerel and big Blacktip sharks behind the Shrimp boats in close. Red Snapper Dolphin and Cobia about 30 miles out. Bonito and Blackfin Tuna behind the Shrimp boats 40 to 70 miles out. Amberjack and big Snapper over wrecks 40 to 50 miles out. Pick your pleasure and let`s go get`em!

Last weekends charters caught some of each. Highlights were, 45 pound Cobia, 24 inch Dolphin, 80 pound Blacktip Shark, 20 pound Blackfin Tuna, and a 24 pound Red Snapper.

07.01.2003
Offshore fishing out of Port O`Connor is red hot. We have been limited out on Red Snapper and Amberjack nearly every trip. Dolphin are showing up on the weed lines. King Mackerel action has been good also. Amberjack are moving into deeper water around the wrecks 40 to 50 miles out. Offshore waters will be open for Shrimping July 15th. That means hot and heavy action behind the shrimp boats. We caught a Blackfin Tuna last week. They should be around the Shrimp boats. Blue water is about 25 miles out. I still have days open during the week and some weekends in the fall.

05.27.2003
This Memorial day weekend, offshore out of Port O`Connor, was one to remember. We fished Saturday, Sunday and Monday.

12 fisherman took 60 Red Snapper up to 17 pounds, 12 Amberjack up to 31 pounds, 4 Cobia up to 51 pounds, 16 King Mackerel up to 25 pounds and a couple of Atlantic Sharpnose Sharks. We caught all our fish within 30 miles. Action was non-stop every day. The water is clear, but no blue water. We have not seen any Dorado, but I am sure they will show up soon

05.04.2003
Big Blactip Shark behind Shrimp boats in close, and Red Snapper around the wells about 20 miles out, is the story offshore in Port O`Connor. Friday we limited on Blacktips up to 100 pounds and Snapper up to 15 pounds. Friday`s trip brought in at least 400 pounds of fish, and we were back at the dock at 3:00.

Let`s go Fishing ! They`re out there!

04.22.2003
Yesterday, Federal waters were opened for Red Snapper. I am happy to report the Snapper are abundant and very hungry. We drifted over a ship wreck about 30 miles out.  Everyone immediately hooked up with Snapper and the water turned red with hundreds of Red Snapper following the hooked Snapper to the surface. You could pick and choose which one you wanted to catch.

We quickly limited with 5 to 12 pound Snapper. It was awesome! Looks like we are in for some fantastic fishing this summer.

02.25.2003
Offshore Port O`Connor ::
I made a scouting trip last Tuesday. We Quickly caught our Amberjack at a favorite well. I tried out some new GPS numbers farther out, and found a ton of big fish. We caught and released two Red Snapper over 20 pounds, in two drifts. There is no telling how many big Snapper were over the sunken structure. Red Snapper season opens to Federal waters April 21st. I can hardly wait.

09.16.2002
We still have a couple of great months of offshore fishing in Port O`Connor. Fall usually means great Red Snapper, Spanish Mackerel and King Mackerel action in close. Fishing should be hot as long as the weather stays warm. Red Snapper season closes at the end of October. Don't miss your chance to stock up on Snapper. Tuna should be back behind the shrimp boats about 50 miles out. Amberjack should start moving in to the 40 mile wells.

08.27.2002
We took advantage of close working shrimp boats this week to load up on some big Blacktip Sharks. Kings, Red Snapper and Dolphin are plentiful. I have heard that some Blue Marlin were caught on the East Breaks Saturday. We are going to try our luck Wednesday.

08.14.2002
Offshore fishing out of Port O`Connor is great. Blue water is close. Flat seas. Good weed lines holding Dolphin, King Mackerel and Ling. Numerous Shrimp boats holding Dolphin, Kings, Shark, Ling and Tuna. Snapper and Amberjack around wells and wrecks. We can pursue any fish you want. Saturday`s trip highlight was a 50 inch Dolphin. We caught the big bull behind a shrimp boat. The bull Dolphin really put on a show. Blazing runs and several high flying leaps.

07.31.2002
Offshore has been hot last couple of weeks. King Mackerel, Spanish Mackerel and Blacktip Shark in close behind the working Shrimp boats. Big Kings and Shark. Sometimes we have to chase them down after we hook them. Nice Snapper up to 12 pounds about 16 miles out. Dolphin on weedlines about 15 miles. Cobia behind anchored Shrimp boats. Last Tuesday we caught a 60 and a 50 pound Cobia along with limits of King Mackerel and Snapper.

07.16.2002
Offshore fishing out of Port O`Connor has been great. Last weekend we took advantage of some nice weather. King Mackerel, and shark were taken trolling and drifting around the close wells. We found a good weedline about 15 miles out holding Dolphin and Cobia. Red Snapper up to 12 pounds about 25 miles out and lots of Amberjack about 40 miles.

Shrimping season opened Monday. The shrimp boats will add another great place to catch King Mackerel, Shark, Dolphin and Cobia.

06.18.2002
Offshore out of Port O`Connor Texas was hot this week. Highlights were limits of Kings and Amberjack nearly every trip. Couple of 40 plus pound Cobia on Friday. Some nice Snapper and small Dolphin. Seas were less than 4 feet all week. Looks like the weather and fishing are getting right.

06.03.2002
Fishing was great this weekend offshore out of Port O`Connor. Saturday we limited on Snapper up to 8 pounds, King Mackerel up to 20 pounds, Sharpnose Shark, snd Amberjack up to 20 pounds. Snapper and Amberjack were plentiful, and we only had to go about 25 miles out. We would set up a drift over a sunken ship, and everyone on the boat would get hooked up with good fish. Looks like we are in for a great offshore season

05.13.2002
Friday we found big Blacktip shark behind Shrimp boats in State waters. We pulled up behind the Shrimpers as they were dragging their nets, and drift back. Every time we put a line in the water we had a big shark on. 6 fisherman boated 6 Blacktip from 40 to 200 pounds. Farther out we could not get away from oversized Red Drum. We must have caught and released at least 30 Red Drum over 30 inches long. Red Snapper up to 6 pounds were mixed in with the Red Drum. I bet those anglers were sore Saturday.

OFFSHORE REPORT 05.06.2002
Offshore fishing is heating up out of Port O`Connor Texas. Saturday a group from the Dallas area had their hands full, when we found a school of Amberjack. The first couple of Amberjack were too small. As we brought up the first one many larger AJs followed. We threw out a little chum and the feeding frenzy was on. We had 4 Amberjack hooked at once. The fish were taking our baits right off the surface. You could watch the 20 pound fish hit your bait and race to the bottom. There was a big Ling with the Amberjack, but the AJs would not give him a chance to bite. We quickly limited out and released several more. We left the school with arms aching and a full fish box. The action was wild!
Atlantic Sharpnose Shark were everywhere. Red Snapper were suspended with Trigger fish making them hard to get to.

Water temperature is 74 degrees, dolphin and King Mackerel should be here any day.

OFFSHORE REPORT 10.04.2001
Offshore fishing out of Port O`Connor is still great!

Jetty fishing for Red Fish is hot. The fall run is on.

We are limiting out on Red Snapper, along with some nice Dolphin, Amberjack, Ling and Shark.

Snapper season will close the end of October, so come get them while you can.

Offshore Report 09.04.2001
Offshore fishing has been great out of Port O`Connor Texas. The raining weather and rough seas have cut the days short the last week or so.

We caught a decent day yesterday, and limited out on Snapper and Kings, and 3 sharks. We had several very nice Snapper. Biggest about 12 pounds. Snapper season closes at the end of October, so get`em while you can.

OFFSHORE IN PORT O`CONNOR 08.20.2001
Offshore fishing out of Port O`Connor Texas with Rip Tide Charters and Hunting service has been really hot the past 2 months, and should continue to be great as long as the weather is good. Limits of Red Snapper and King Mackerel are common. Amberjack and Ling on the longer trips. Shrimp boats have been paying off nicely for Kings, Bonito and shark. Last week we pulled up behind a shrimp boat and you could see hundreds of King Mackerel. We could have sunk the boat with them. Those Kings were in a feeding frenzy. You could watch them take your bait. It was wild.

Tuna should start showing up soon. We saw one Blackfin last week.

OFFSHORE REPORT 08.06.2001
Offshore fishing has been great. I can`t imagine it getting much better. Red Snapper, King Mackerel, Amberjack, Dolphin, Ling, Shark and Bonito can be caught on a single day. Saturday we saw a small Blackfin Tuna. Seas are flat and the water is blue. If you even think you might like offshore fishing, now is the time to try it.

Offshore Reprt 07.23.2001
Offshore fishing out of Port O`Connor is really heating up.

King Mackerel, Blacktip Sharks and Jack Crevelle are in close behind the shrimp boats. We are catching limits of Kings and some big Blacktip. Sunday we caught an 50 and an 80 pounder. We could have caught more but my customers were wore out, so we went about 20 miles east and hammered the Snapper. We are finding big schools of Dolphin on weedlines where the blue water meets the green water. Usually when we find them you can catch them until you get tired of it. The weather has been great with seas 3 feet or less

Offshore Report 07.16.2001
Offshore fishing has been great, and I think the best fishing of the year is still coming. We are catching limits of Snapper, 20 to 30 miles out of Port O`Connor. King Mackerel are scattered behind the shrimp boats. We just keep trying the shrimp boats until we find the one holding the fish. We are finding good schools of Dolphin on the weed lines and behind the shrimp boats.

OFFSHORE REPORT 07.08.2001
Friday we caught Red Snapper and Dolphin. We boated about 40 Dolphin and just left them.

Yesterday we limited out on King Mackerel and Snapper. We also caught 4 sharks. The Blue water is moving closer every day,(about 25 miles out yesterday). Shrimping season starts today. That means great fishing behind those Shrimp boats for King, Ling, Shark and Dolphin.

OFFSHORE REPORT 06.18.2001
Offshore out of Port O`Connor Texas. King Mackerel, Amberjack and Ling seem to be the hot fish this week. There seem to be more good weather days also. Only a couple of days last week were too rough. I think that the Summer pattern of hot still days is soon coming. That means great fishing offshore.

Offshore Report 06.13.2001
Offshore fishing has been good this last week out of Port O`Connor Texas. Monday the Gulf was flat all day long. It was a beautiful day, a sign of many more to come. We caught 4 Ling along with King Mackerel, Shark, Amberjack and Snapper. Fishing should keep on getting better every day as the weather sets into a summer pattern. This weekend looks like the weather will be great. I still have an opening for Sunday.

OFFSHORE REPORT
King Mackerel have finally arrived offshore in Port O`Connor Texas. This past weekend is the first weekend we have caught good numbers of King Mackerel. Offshore water is 76 degrees. Atlantic Sharpnose Sharks, Cobia, and Amberjack have been part of the catch, last couple of weeks. Fishing should continue to improve through the summer.

OFFSHORE REPORT
It was a little rough this weekend offshore out of Port O`Connor Texas, but we still managed to catch some nice fish.

Amberjack, Ling, Dolphin, King Mackerel and Shark.

OFFSHORE REPORT
The wind slacked off a couple of days last week . We caught 7 limits of nice Red Snapper, Atlantic Sharpnose Shark, King Mackerel, and a couple of Cobia. We found blue water about 15 miles out. The water was still 69 degress. We have had some warm days since and a southeast wind, so I am sure the blue water is closer and warmer. One fisher-woman hooked something huge. The fish ripped off about 300 yards of 50 pound test line from a 50 international, before the line broke. She was fishing a diamond jig without a leader. I thought the drag must be very loose. I checked it and I could hardly pull any line out. That was one big fish.

OFFSHORE REPORT
As soon as the wind dies down I am sure the fishing offshore will be great. I have heard from offshore oil platform operators that the king mackerel and ling are plentiful around the platforms off Port O`Connor. One man said he saw 5 to 10 Ling at every well he checked. Looks like we are in for a great fishing season.

Offshore Fishing
Offshore fishing out of Port O`Connor Texas is hotter than ever. We are finding King Mackerel from the jetties to 40 miles out. The bigger fish seem to be in close. Red Snapper & Amberjack are good from about 20 miles out and farther. We are still having great success behind the shrimp boats for Blackfin Tuna, Bonito, Kings, Dorado, Ling and Sharks. Saturday we had some Blackfin Tuna chummed up right to the boat, but had a hard time getting a bait to them because of the sharks. We still managed to catch a few. They are a beautiful, hard fighting fish, with blazing runs.
Let`s go fishing! Capt. Terry 888-990-6460

Fishing Report
Fishing has been great, whenever the weather allows us to go. Last saturday there was a distinct color change about 6 miles out, with a good weed line. We caught kings, bonito, ling, and dolphin trolling. I was out Thursday, and the color change has moved out about 18 miles and the winds have broken up the weeds. We did manage to find some nice snapper up to 10 pounds about 20 miles out. I am sure the fishing will be great as soon as the weather stablizes.

Offshore fishing
The wind has been pretty tough the last couple of weeks in Port O`Connor, but last Saturday afternoon and Sunday the wind let up and the fishing was great offshore. We caught King mackerel in close at the first water change about 8 miles out. We found Ling, Snapper and Blacktip sharks about 20 miles out. We got into a school of blacktips in a feeding frenzy and caught all the 20 to 60 pound sharks we wanted. It was crazy. You could see the sharks take your bait. We had 5 sharks on at one time. They had a blast. We also caught a couple of bull Reds at the Jetties.
Let`s go fishing.
